Elemental Form

Ruthenium, a member of the platinum group, is a hard, lustrous, white metal that does not tarnish at room temperatures. It does not occur native, but in combination with other platinum group metals. Ruthenium combines with platinum and palladium as an effective hardner, creating alloys that are extremely wear resistant. It improves the corrosion resistance of titanium and is superconductive when combined with molybdenum.
